Through the Lens of the International Diagnostic and Admissions Test

When writing this article, the best place to start was with AI itself.

My parameters:

An introductory paragraph for an essay on exploring security issues for AI usage in online testing, including information on the opportunities and threats that AI poses to students testing at home.

ChatGPT’s response:

“In the rapidly evolving landscape of online education, the integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) into testing procedures holds both promise and peril. While AI offers unparalleled opportunities to enhance assessment methodologies, ensuring fairness, efficiency, and accessibility, it also introduces a host of security concerns, particularly when students undertake tests from the comfort of their homes. This essay aims to explore the intricate balance between leveraging AI for improved testing experiences and mitigating the inherent threats it poses to the integrity of online examinations. By delving into the multifaceted dimensions of AI-enabled online testing, we can discern strategies to harness its potential while safeguarding against potential malpractices.”

As you can see above, it is an amazing and frightful world, where I can input the parameters for my IAB article, and it can return with such a well-written, accurate, and dare I say insightful introduction to the article. As educators, how we to leverage this amazing tool while still making sure that students can write, think, and express themselves?

This is the world that IDAT (The International Diagnostic and Admissions Test) operates in. A world where a student can produce something written by AI, but where schools still want to see what a student can produce without these amazing tools.
