IAB: Tell us about your background and experience in international school education.
SEG: My journey in international schooling has been both interesting and fulfilling. I began as a secondary school social sciences teacher, later transitioning to a primary homeroom teacher. These roles provided me with a solid foundation for understanding the diverse needs of students across different age groups. Due to health conditions, my time in the classroom was limited. However, my passion for education continued to grow, driving me to pursue further studies in educational leadership.
As a founding member of Evolution International School’s Senior Leadership Team, I serve as the Deputy Director. In this role, I have led the school to successful accreditation with the Council for International Schools (CIS). Additionally, I am in the final stages of becoming a CIS evaluator, which will further enhance my understanding of international school standards and best practices.
My approach to education is holistic, focusing not only on academic excellence but also on character development and community engagement. I am a Duke of Edinburgh Award Leader and CAS Supervisor in the IB Diploma Programme, where I strive to encourage students to contribute to their communities.
Overall, my background and experience in international schooling gave me the skills and knowledge to create meaningful and impactful learning experiences for students in a global context.
